I was reading some of these posts about UFC and how its not real fighting and how if you eye gouge and kick in the balls it will make it more realistic. Well if you can do that then why dont you just stand in the ring with a gun and shoot your opponent or get 6 people to jump your opponent.
Anybody can also kick somebody in the legs and punch them in the head. It doesn't take years of training to do that either. Note that over 90 % of kicks in MMA matches are to the legs. In fact it takes LESS skill to kick someone in the legs than to kick them in nuts. Besides I've never seen a martial arts school that ONLY taught eye and groin strikes. Also some MMA schools work "street tactics" into their curriculum, they just don't push that fact. Others just stick to what's "legal in the ring". It all depends on what your personal goals are as to what you study.
John, yeah anyone can kick to the leg, but not eveyone can kick the right way. By that I mean that the vast majority by your definition would make some caveman like kick or something to that extent. Also anyone can punch and kick, so im wondering what your getting at?
Kicking someone in the legs my be easier to do than kicking to the nuts, but it is not easy to kick effectively. Anyone can lift a tap a leg, but to knock some one down with a kick is something else.
The reason why kicks to the groin are taught in self defence classes is because it is easy to be effective with it as well as easy to learn. Although I have to admit it is harder to apply than most people think.
