I think that exercise is more geared towards JunFanJKD because you have to perform it with a vertical fist, not horizontal like in a Boxing type punch.

I wonder if throwing around Shots of Lead would benifit punching power. Like, if you got into your Ready Fighting Position and you hold the Shot in your lead hand and threw it, using perfect punching form. I was trying this the other day, however, I only have 1 Shot, I would fatigue my muscles better if I had a Tray of 20 Shots, then I could throw them one after the other.

You know it kinda reminds me of doing a press up, only from a standing position. I would be interested to know if it worked any different muscles. I suppose it might work the forearms slightly differently.

using the barbell and punching works different muscles than pushups.
Pushups target the chest, front shoulders and tri's.
A rear cross with a barbell would get the front shoulder, the lat, the calf, the thigh, the waist, the forearm, the tricep, the rear shoulder, and when you pull the barbell back it'd use the back more and the bicep a bit.
That's my take on it.
If you do this with correct structure though as I understand it the only place that would be under tension should be the lead thigh.

Yea, this is a cool "sport specific" exercise. It's a compound movement. I'm starting to get into Compound movements more because it's less time consuming and because when you fight, you use compound movements, not isolation movement. You have to use your entire body in harmony to create power. Also, when you move a heavy box, push a car, ride a bike or any type of physical labor, you will not use 1 muscle, most of the time, it's a group of muscles that work together. Body Building exercises don't appeal to me as much, however I have a lot of respect for the sport.
