what are your views on weight training? I have always believed that by building muscle it would restrict suppleness. Does anyone know any good ways to combine the two of them?

I cannot stress volume four of the Bruce Lee books enough. Weight training does not have to be for size. There are very few areas that actually need to be trained for strength, such as the back or the quads. For the rest, the most important thing is speed training, and thus circuit training.

Weight training is a great way to develop both speed and strength. You don't have to compete in Miss Olympia pageants to weight train. Just take a look at some Boxers and most Gymnasts. Many of those guys weight train and they are in great shape yet they still have a lot of speed, power and agility.

June 16 2004, 2:49 AM

I'm 15 and i'm going out for my highschools wrestling team.
I now I can make it but I wanna Improve my strength. I've been wieght training since 7th grade. I'm goin' to 11th and recently started combining
bodybuilder weight training with strength & speed weight training. Although muscle gain occured I also gain strength from it. Right now I've been studying variable different types of training and been trying new things
finding what I like. Anyone who has suggestions or anything email me at Jayce234@hotmail.com.

Well Balanced

Weight-training is a tricky subject folks. It is best incorporated to a training regiment when it is combined with stretching, and cardiovascular workouts. Try and make the three aspects as close together as possible. Just try it and see what happens.
