Hey i have what might be a relatively silly question. There is a trainin equipment that im not sure what it is referred to as. It is a punching ball/bag and it is held up by a pole that bends back and forth when hit. Obviously it is for speed. It is called a speed bag, b/c i thouht the other ones that hun up were called that? In any case, does any one have any advice on some drills i can do and how to basically use it if i were to et one? thanks

I would imagine you could use it in the same manner as a top and bottom bag.

you could:
1) work on timing your jab/lead punch to hit it on the returne
2) work on the rhythm of your combinations (like the above drill)
3) work on evasive movements between hitting it (slip, side step, etc.)
4) use other, non-conventional tools (kicks, knees, elbows, headbutts, etc.)
5) could be used as a substitute for a partner with glove drills (e.g. jab-catch-jab)

that piece of equipment is called a cobra bag. the top and bottom bag is performs better for kicking and returns faster.
