Is there a rank by belt color? How do you reach a high degree in JKD?

I am quite positive that jkd does not include the use of belts, but at the school i goto they base the ranks into the 5 ways of attack.

Well I can't speak for all JKD schools and teachers, but the ones I am familiar with, respectively speaking about the concepts instructors that I have come in contact with, you are usually a student until you get to Assistant Instructor which going by the Inosanto Academy's ciriculum, takes a minimum of three years regardless of how good you are. Then another four or five years to become Phase One Instructors.....then another four or five to become Full Instuctor. Then another four or five to become Senior Instructor. Dan himself says it takes this long because he wants the quality to remain very high for people that have a certificate with his school's name on it. I think when you get the title "instructor" at all in JKD, you could compare that to a black belt in Karate. Paul Vunak's ciriculum is different. So is Larry Hartsell's. It really depends on the teacher.
