Diet

Hello. I was on this "Martial Artist's Diet" for about 2 months, but, it really didn't get me anywhere. I've been training very hard, and the combination of diet and excercise really don't work too well. I was wondering if someone could help me create a specific diet that promotes fat burning and muscle growth.

Thanks

NOW THIS IS A GOOD POST

Let me help you. First off don't say Diet and Excersise is not worth it. What your probably not doing is working it correctly. I have lost almost 35lbs in a few months on a strict diet and excersise.

Now when I say excersise im not saying a few calestenics (sp) for 15 mins. Thats not the answer but it helps.

First off. Your Diet has to be controlled, Watch your portions small portions, watch your intake, I've found the low carb, alot of protien has helped me. Not so much a strict like the atkins but regulated works.

weight training, and RUNNING, this is the key I think where most of my weight fell off. RUN, RUN, RUN like the wind. I now run 1 mile a day and once or twice a week I run anywhere from 3 or 5 miles at least once in the week. along w/ my weight training.

DRINK LOTS OF WATER, LOOSE THE POP/SODA. or sugar based drinks. eat lots of chicken, and salads.

hope this helps its worked for me good

if you dont like running either walking burns more calories than running so just a nice fast pace walk will do ya. or even easier just do alot of low intesity weight training with ALOT of reps, tones your body and you'll be lookin good, i went from 170-145 doing low intense high rep workouts.

Try to eat lean meats chicken and turkey are great, but loose the skin on the chicken- just added fat. Eat about 5-6 meals a day Small portion sized, and yes WATER!! WATER WATER WATER!!! make sure you drink plenty of it as you will feel revitalized while your working out, drink most of your water during and after your workout, and only a little before you workout.

hope i helped

Great posts guys. Hope I'm not intruding in the topic but I wondered if anybody had any tips in gaining mass and body weight. First of all I'm a bit worried about my physique, I'm very slim which notably affects the amount of damage I do to an opponent. My arms are very skinny, my wrists measure at about 16cm. My punching is fairly fast but when i practice on a punch bag, i really struggle to make much impact.

Being 19 years of age, I don't think I can do anymore growing. I try to eat as much as possible but get "full" very easy. I eat all kinds of foods such as fish , chicken, veggies, tofu and have about 3 meals a day.

ok well if you are looking to gain mass you should be lifting heavy and doing very few reps, about 4 different exercises, doing 3 reps of each exercise. If you want you can try taking creatinemonohydrate, it allows more water flow to muscles and builds up quick. but it seems like you are eating good make sure you get water also.

But also take a look at you family history if you have a slim and tall family you may take on their genes and would be difficult to change your body chemisty.

Just try heavier wieghts and see if it works, but remember, you wont see results overnight, BE PATIENT.

Also make sure to stretch after your workouts, you may want to gain mass but not lose flexibility.

Ah, the cuse of skinny island strikes again.....

Hello, I couldn't help overhearing(!) that post about being a slim-jim!
Man, I'm as skinny as they come, and short too. I know exactly how you feel on this one.
By the sound of it, it's genetic. I have skinny guys on both sides of my family, but unfortunately, no good looks!
I think that you should really focus on what works for you, the natural you, the you free from preservatives and monosodium glutomate!
JKD finds whats best for each individual, so rather than push youself to get big, just remember what Bruce said...that a slim guy with a fast swing creates more power than a bigger guy with a slower swing.
In other words, you can be light, but still be very effective.
Also, muscle density means more than size, and being lighter, you should be able to dance around your opponent like a drunken leprochaun,(sp?)!!!
Anyways, c'mon! it doesn't take a big guy to hit someone in the balls or eyes!
now thats what I'm talkin bout.......

i have an average build i guess maybe a little skinny, im 6'3'' and 185 pounds, and i am blessed with genes to have an alright ability to gain more weight. which im not really interested in anyways. however, i tend to stay in shape all over my body, and i run ofter and excersise moderately but id like to do it more, but i have trouble with my lower abdomen. does anyone know of good simple at home excersises i can do to work it out better??

Well......

if you want to work on the lower abdomen, instead of doing normal sit-ups, try these:
as you raise your head like regular situps, raise your legs at the same time,as if you are trying to knee yourself in the head. At this point you should be balancing on the tailbone area. This works more of the abdominal muscles, which you should really feel!
BTW, you should treat the movement like normal situps, by which I mean don't raise your head or knees too high, just enough to feel the burn!

Adios.

you can also try hanging leg raises those do one hell of a job on your abs. Hang from a beam/pole/etc... like you would do a chinup, then just raises your legs straight out to form a 90 degree angle with your body. or just raise your knees to your chest, but i prefer the 90 degree angle;) sometimes even a 45 degree angle to really work them.

*You can try performing your ab exercises slow Very slow, this will make you work even harder and have greater resistance.

Dani -

1. Eat a breakfast before you go to school
2. Eat at recess
3. Eat at lunch
4. Eat right after school lets out (in other words on the bus)
5. Wait two hours after that and eat dinner.
6. Wait another two hours after that and eat a small meal.

There you go. Have your mom pack you a lunch. Don't eat that stuff they give you at school. That isn't real food. A lot of fresh veges and fruits. Also turkey sandwiches with fat free cheese, green leaf lettuce on whole wheat bread minus the mayonaise. LOL

Hope this helps yah kid!
