Hello,

I have a science research assesment task, and i am able to pick any topic that interests me and choose something to research by conducting an experiment. And im interested in the martial arts...

I wanted to do the same research that Hayward Nishioka and Bruce Lee conducted on the destructiveness of the Karate Punch Verse the Jeet Kune Do punch...however i am unable to view their results..conclusions etc..

I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on something i could research...

Some things i have thought of already include:

- Does martial arts benefit or disbenefit you physcologically?

- What type of martial art has the best physcological affect?

If anyone has any opinion on something i can do involving Jeet Kune Do itself or martial arts in general..it would be much appreciated...

Thanks...Anthony

The question about what martial art has the best psychological effect isn't really scientific. Science is all about measurement. You will need to establish some kind of empirical criteria. What you might do is compare the number of your classmates involved in martial arts to a random sample of kids in your school and see if there is a difference in how they score on a standardized questionaire regarding self esteem; however, a serious confound might be a false sense of self efficacy by delusions of grandeur from practicing martial arts. I guess that is why they call it martial art rather than martial science: too hard to control the variables.
