Leg raises off the bench suspended in mid air witness by bolo yeung in enter the dragon set. The one finger press ups, is particular body part strenght important to overall JKD ability to deliver its tools with maximum effect. Or don,t modern JKD condition their body to do some of bruce strenght stunts "tommy carruthers likes those strenght exercises demo" haven,t seen anyone else discusses these aspect and why bruce always developed his forearms and abs. The only thing most people concentrate is structure and efficiency in combat. Is these stunts for strenghts part of the JKD overall conditioning for fighting ability. Well Bruce the originator loves these show of strenght.

Hello!
A very nice topic to bring up one i really enjoy:)
Well 1st off i don't think that JKD schools actually take the time and effort to focus on strenght as much as bruce did, in my school we do just some moderate conditioning after every session, but the JKD membership also offers a gym membership so im free to train there, many schools may offer this but in particular they focus more on technique and attacks.
The strength you goto leave to yourself. Which is quite fun:) I have about 2 yrs strength condition on me, and i have increased my strength way beyond any regular 16 year old, im currently on the 2 finger push ups(got the 1 finger only once BUT WOW its a real bitch), especially workin those abs. they may be hard at first but damn, they look so pretty:) instead of a flat gut... thats just in my opinion.

Strength training is all around beneficial, but im not saying you goto be like bruce to do JKD but if you really wanna get a good wahlop in it really helps. Bruce also trained every single muscle in his body that he could, so not only was he hitting with just his arms but his waiste, shoulder, core, back, legs, the whole kahuna! But take my advice if you are willing to be strong like bruce and wanna take your training to the next level, as myself:D, it takes much patients, proper diet, stretching, variety, and much dedication.
*But also note that if you are lookin for best overall results go for a bruce physique, not only strong and powerful but light fast and flexible,( i believe bruce was 125lbs when he died, correct me if im wrong, but also had an extremly low bodyfat %) watch out for the really bulky muscles but dont stay TOO small.

Glad to discuss

goofy feats of strength

i can do 2 finger (index and thumb) push-ups. i trained: one handed, five fingers, two fingers. the whole process took about two months.
p.s. i can also perform the splits while suspended on two chairs like van damme does in bloodsport.

The one thing Bruce Lee and Jean Claude Van Damme have in common is that they are both martial arts movie stars. If you can do things they can do, I want to see you get a movie contract too. If you can pull that one off, then I will be very impressed. Actually EXTREMELY impressed.

The strenght exercise such as wrestler bridge, and boxers strengning their necks to take blows, not much talk about in JKD about such conditioning exercises. Bulky muscle should try flexibility and see the reason why bulky muscle slows you down.
Take hand to centre line and do wing chun style straight blast.
All the bulky muscle gets in the way and flexibility is restricted. The point of bruce strenght is for fighting ability and not just strenght in the general sense. The finger press up and such exercise is for gripping clawing, eagle claw kung fu.
Bruce worked his forearms and they were well develop compared to others of his size. If most people check bruce did a lot of non-martial supplementary exercise, the reason I believe is to make the body more efficient at delivery blows at speed and taking a blow. I think boxers and wrestles got the balance right and so do thai boxers on condition exersices for fighting. And JKD as bruce practised has all the exercises, thai pads, and plyometric exercises and other conditioning exercises, leave the rest to other to expand.

the wing chun straight blast works poorly against well trained idividuals. lee modified it vastly during his later stages.

The reason Bruce looked the way he did is because he worked out so much. Yeah, I know, duh, right? But what I'm saying is the reason he built muscle but stayed skinny is because if you work out at intensitiy's for long periods of time, soon the body eats whateve calories are in you, and when those are gone, it goes right to muscle and eats it up. If you train at 60-70% then your body eats fat. Any higher and your body eats muscle. So basically, Bruce was building it up and tearing it down again.
