Hello!
Does anyone here utilise the modified Wing Chun stance?(in sticking hands).
What, in your opinions, are the pros and cons of the traditional and modified versions?
I can see that the traditional stance has a lot of stabilty, but does this have many downsides?
Also, What do you think about strongest weapon first?
Do you lead with your natural hand, (like Bruce taught), or do you have a diffirent approach?
The way I am being taught, in respect of both of these concepts, is traditional stance, non-strongest first.
I can definately see the beniefits of doing things either way, I just am interested to hear other opinions.
Myself, I will learn all I can the way my teacher teaches it, but I also have a thirst for knowledge!
On the fip-side, do you think I should forget such quiestions until my practical experience allows me a firm base from which to expand? ( little knowlede is a dangerous thing, etc).
in wing chun, it is taught to be skillful on both sides left and right, yet , for the beginner since most people are right handed, we begin with the left hand, in the stance we begin with the 50/50 square stance for balance. later on when you learn the moving stances or stepping, as you progress into Goh Sau (free flow combat chi sau)you will need to be able to switch to and fro left and right sides. (this is obvious in the empty hand and dummy forms), yet in the JKD method it makes sense to eventually useyour strongest side foward. I think that it is best to be ready for any thing.
