I was just wondering if I could incorporate Power-Lifting with Martial Arts. I've gotten answers from other Martial Artists, and they mostly said "no." I was hoping that you guys could help me.

Power Lifting

There isn't really a problem of mixing power lifting into your program as long as you maintain your training. To focus just on lifting would cause some problems, such as loss of endurance and speed. A work out I like to do is after lifting my last set of power reps, cut the weight by at least half and do one set until I stop. This way I build up not only the strength of the muscle but the endurance. It hurts like hell, but I then give myself a day to recover.

Using power-lifting as a primary strength training protocol is a very good idea.

The best guys in the sport are at www.elitefts.com

Also I suggest using olympic lifts, this increases total body explosiveness.

The best information on strength training I have seen is at www.t-nation.com just go to the archives section and read, read, and read some more. The best strength coaches there are contribute articles and programs to that site.
