Could some explain what is meant by the term neutral stance in JKD?

I understand it might be a different stance than in other martial arts, where a netural stance is like a Yee jee kim yeung ma type of stance ( like a short parallel stance )

Thanks

Neutral Stance

Hello!

That is EXACTLY what it is, also often called a square stance. It is used for training rotation hand strikes, such as the chung chuie (overhand rotation) and the bil jee (underhand rotation. It is used to develop structure, as well as to develop both sides equally for rotation strikes. Also, we sometimes do seong chi sao from this position, as well as the Sil Lim Tao form, which is a very important part of the Jun Fan Gung Fu curriculum, especially for the development of your structure (which even transfers right into Jeet Kune Do). Hope this clears it up for you!
