Can Anyone tell me why the name shovel hook for the shovel hook in JKD? I understand shovel kick and shovel hand but not shovel hook. Also where does the name come from and why ?

the shovel hook is named such because it travels in a path similar to a shovel after you scoop something up and heave it to the side. it is the path that gives it it's name, not the shape of the hand (so don't confuse it with juan gern; spade palm).
