Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum, but have always been interested in JKD. I've study different style of arts (American Kenpo, Aikido, Chun Do Kwon, Kempo). I live in Los Angeles, actually closer to Alhambra, CA. Now i'm not a rich person, but it's hard for me to find a school that doesn't charge arm & a leg to learn an art. It use to be that Senseis/Sifus would teach for the art, but now its all about the money. I haven't practiced in 6-7 years, since i got married and had a son. I'm out of shape, but I think that's no excuse. I've checked around for some schools, and they charge so much. To top it off most the arts they offer are Tae Kwon Do. I've been looking to learn Kung Fu. I did find one school is called KUNTAU, but again they want alot of money. Sucks that I don't have lots of money, especially now that my son wants to learn too. Does anyone that live in the Alhambra, CA or Near help here. Thanx Guys.

Have you called the local community centers and YMCA's?

Finding a reasonably priced school

Sir Hi I couldn't help but feel the desire to help after reading your post.
The first thing I would do if I were you, is go to the school you wish to train at. First off set down and talk one on one w/ the main instructor of the school. Usually if you have a heart to heart w/ the instructor and tell him your interested in training and you'd like to get your son in the school but your financial obligations are not meeting his requirements. Give him a bit of info on your background and why you want to train there. See if you and him can come to an agreement. I believe this may be a good start for you. Usually I as an instructor would be willing to help anyone out that comes to me and lets me know they are wanting to train but cannot train at my facilty due to financial reasons... Im sure others would help you too.

Try it and see what happens. ANd if it dont' work go to another you seek.

THanks

TACD
