Lamar's close quarter on-line article

Lamar,

Just checked out your article dealing with elbows, knees and headbutts featured on your website. I think it was well done and had a lot of good info. I have just a few questions and comments though.
1) Most JKD oriented authors who discuss HKE's do so from a Thai boxing, Kali/Silat or MMA perspective. If I may ask, which one of Bruce Lee's students taught you the bulk of your HKE's and close quarter tactics? It's not a commonly addressed topic in my opinion.
2) In one picture, you are holding on to your partner's head with both hands to headbutt as well as knee later (which resembles a thai couble neck tie clinch or plum). Is this an OJKD technique per se? and if so, how do you protect your groin?
-this is not meant to sound antagonistic, but since one of the main concepts of JKD is air tight defence, I'm sure you'll have some input that I'll find helpful.

Most of my techniques are WC techniques or Concepts techniques that I've learn over the years. Check out Richard Bustillo and Chris Kent's videos and you can see the same techniques.

Right...

Lamar, as some of you may know, was turned down by Danny I. because he lacked knowledge in the Philipino arts. Today he claims other reasons, but in the beginning he was up Inosanto's ass as much as anybody else.

Above Post Is Not Mine!

November 14 2005, 1:32 PM

Hello Everyone!

If you look closely at the login above, you will notice that was not posted by me! In fact, I thought this forum had been discontinued, and haven't been on it in a long time! It was just brought back to my attention in an email that I received a few minutes ago!

My knowledge of elbows, knees and headbutts comes from years of influence of many different martial arts. There is always a right way and a wrong way to do things. When it comes to headbutts, knees and elbows, my main concern is doing it right and teaching it right! I will say that Wing Chun Gung Fu has the strongest influence on my techniques in this area of training. The longer I train in martial arts, the more I realize that very few people actually understand the true depth of the Wing Chun system.

I don't know who made the above post, but it WAS NOT ME, and I DO NOT appreciate it! Some people need to grow up and get a life!

I thought this place was discontinued too, but it seems that it is still (barely) clinging to life. It might as well be discontinued, since nobody really bothers having good discussions here anymore.
