HELP!!!!!
I need to know who the propmaster was for the
"Tales Of The Gold Monkey" TV series. If there was more than one propmaster then I need all of their names.
I am considering buying an item from the set of the series
and the guy selling it says he was the propmaster for the show. I don't have the series on tape or DVD so I can't get this information myself. Would appreciate any help that
anyone can give me. I am sure this guy is who he says he is, but you can't be too careful.
Please send info to:
lordgryphon66@yaahoo.com
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Calm Down Info is here

Go to this site's main page and find the link to the 'Facts' page. Once that page is finished loading go all the way to the bottom and scroll up until you find the info. It's not that far that way.

Chess set

April 21 2004, 3:16 PM

Len, are you referring to the chess set? I got in touch with writer/co-producer Tom Greene -- he doesn't recall using chess sets at all in the show, or if they did, the chess set was probably what he called an "atmosphere prop" or set dressing.

Here's the 411

I've already e-mailed Len and posted this message on another newsgroup:

I have 2 crew lists from 10/27/82 and 12/3/82. The propmasters listed then are Richard Dinieri, John Faltis (10/27) and Jim Zemansky (12/3). There may have been others before or after, so it's not complete.

If you are interested in buying that chess set that's being offered on eBay, I wouldn't bother, unless you like ornately carved chess sets. The set was featured in the final episode, "Mourning Becomes Matuka". Well, part of the set, anyway. It was a birthday gift to Princess Koji from her half sister, Shannon. You see a cut away shot as she opens the box to see the chess pieces. The box contains the green chess pieces that resemble the pieces in the eBay picture, but the other pieces are ivory colored, not black as pictured on eBay. Plus, we never see the chess board. Koji holds up one of the green pieces for a few seconds, but that's all we see of that chess set. So as a piece of TV memoribilia, it's pretty much worthless. Now, if he were selling the musical cupid that shoots the poison arrow in that episode, then I'd snatch it up in a second.

EGAD!!

April 25 2004, 4:46 AM

It looks like Len didn't heed my advice because he paid a whopping $310.00 for that chess set. I hope that's what a chess set like that would normally go for, but I doubt it. Like I mentioned before, it's not TV nor Gold Monkey memoribilia. Its link to the show is tenuous at best. Oh well, to each his own. Now I'm digging through my stuff and seeing what I can sell at grossly inflated prices.
