Universal is releasing more shows that fans are asking for, such as Gimme a Break and Charles in Charge. There's a chance they might release Tales of the Gold Monkey themselves if they see enough interest in it. Thanks guys, every email helps. I tried emailing them several times a few months back and always got the same standard reply that the title was not distributed by Universal. Now I get the standard email back saying no release date has been announced. I think this is a good sign. Universal has an excellent history of releasing "one season wonders" (such as Battlestar Gallactica, Buck Rogers & Earth 2). They've also released other shows that Don Bellesario has worked on, such as Airwolf & Quantum Leap. They also monitor tvshowsondvd.com and see which of their shows are high in demand. Gold Monkey was recently 158th in unlreleased rank, out of over 6,000 shows. Gimme a Break was 151st & Universal just announced they're releasing season 1 in Feburary. All this adds up to a VERY GOOD chance that Universal will release Tales of the Gold Monkey. I'm thinking they should do it sometime before next May while Stephen Collins is still on the tube on 7th Heaven. Keep those emails going!

I think we all want to see an official release. Even though goldmonkey.com sells the DVD's they are not official and therefore not legal. Purchasing them is technically breaking the law.

I just sent one in myself. I'm still planning on getting a set after Xmas from goldmonkey.com, but an officail set (with extras and stuff) would be worth re-buying it.

Just to warn all of you - DVD sets being released now have VERY heavy copy protection.
What that means is that if your DVD player needs to be routed through a VCR in order to watch discs, all that you will see is a bright blue screen!

And contacting the companies will do no good - they will only replace the sets, and will ignore any complaints that you can't watch them.

Great - I did not realise that there were other people out there who love TotGM. I was 7 when it was aired here (UK), it was one of the only programs I was allowed to stay up and watch - I still remember how good it was. Although a lot of others have forgotten.
LETS MAKE THEM REMEMBER. IT ROCKS.

I just sent an email for the release of tales of the gold monkey . I have been waiting forever to buy this for my hubby . It was his absolute favorite tv show.

You can buy a splitter for about ten dollars that will accept a three-branch, S-Video, or coaxial cable and pipe the signal out on a coaxial cable -- I did that when I could no longer run my DVD player through my VCR. The copy-protected discs also played on my computer.

Universal is releasing Voyagers on DVD next month. Voyagers has always been only 1 rank up from TOTGM on tvshowsondvd.com. This is good news for Monkey fans. Keep sending those emails to Universal!
