I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I have just received word that Jeff MacKay ("Corky") passed away this morning after a brief illness in the hospital due to liver complications. There's no further information available at this time. My fellow Monkiacs and I extend our deepest sympathies to his family.

I loved watching Jeff as Corky in TOTGM, but it wasn't until I met him at the Gold Monkey Gathering in 1997 that I realized he was just as warm and funny in real life. I wish I could remember what was written on the card he kept inside Corky's hat.

I'm going to watch "Cooked Goose" in tribute to him -- it was truly "his episode to shine".

My deepest condolences to all those who knew and loved him. Take care, Jeff.

I was shocked to hear of Jeff's passing. He'll be remembered for starring in, "Black Sheep Squadron," (aka, "Baa Baa Black Sheep"), and several guest stints on, "JAG," as well. Godspeed, Jeff. You'll be missed.

I just recently started watching The Gold Monkey (Planning on buying the DVD's). Too bad to hear about him.

A great actor (Favorite character on Black sheep), although I will say I like his best performance on TOTGM!!!

When I was 12 years old I had my life all figured out, no questions asked. I was going to have a seaplane and be surrounded by my best buds. Well I never got past the first few flight lessons, life got in the way. But I do work on airplanes now. Thanks to Jeff Mackay, for the roles he played and the contributions he made to this world. His shows gave me my love of aviation and a healthy respect for loyal friends. When I hear the intro music for the Gold Monkey I still get the same great feeling. Anything is possible, and life is going to be a blast when I grow up.

Truly, will be missed.

I was very sad to learn that Jeff MacKay had passed away. Something about TOTGM bit me when I was kid and never let go. Jeff Mackay was obviously a key part of what made the show so wonderful and enduring. My deepest condolences to those who knew him.

To a great friend and already missed! To so many friends and fans of Jeff....he just returned from filming a movie in Florida a few weeks ago. Still being edited, but watch for it "December". Too sad for me right now.........

I never met you but I also never forgot the fun you have provided over the years in all of your delightful roles. I always adored Corky and feel that he was such a fine example of the everyday guy ... a little bit of troubles, a little bit of trouble making, a lot of loyalty and a ton of love with a pinch of frustration and a healthy cup of determination. Corky was a real 'corker' and thank you for giving him to us!

I will miss the times I got to talk to you over the phone. You were a sweet guy. I will treasure our correspondence ALWAYS !!!!

You took the time to share MANY of your memories with me. I will never forget our all too brief of time.

It's been a long time since I've been to the Gold Monkey House (new forum!), but I happened to Google myself and here I am.

I'm gutted that we've lost Jeff MacKay -- he was a true sweetheart -- on screen and from what I gathered at the Gathering some time ago....
