On our 1968 Chris Craft Sea Skiff we installed a really nice reading lamp at the dinette and we did the same thing on our Commander. We searched until we found a really nice brass lamp that had the hinge adjustment you see in the photos. I then pulled the bottom off and used industrial epoxy to fix in some threaded rod studs. The studs were inset into drilled holes in the mahogany sideboard and as you can see, an elegant brass lamp like this is not only functional, it adds a nice feel to the whole boat.

This is a very carefully done detail, which started with a several week hunt for "the right lamp". The cord is run down the base of the lamp and it’s also on a timer. In these two photos, I have adjusted the lamp into two different positions to show how it can be used for general illumination, dining, reading, etc. It’s a very functional upgrade and it looks great.
