Broome major attraction would have to be it's laid back life style anf racial tolerance.
Apart from that it has 200kms of free beach (nude)
It is the Pearling capital of the world and has Pearls in abundance
The game fishing is brilliant or just fishing off the wharf with a hand line you can get Barra, Salmon, Snapper or my favorite Mangrove Jack easily.
If your into learning about Australian Aboriginal culture all of the local tribes provide cultural tours and teach you traditional ways of living. Show you how to catch and eat Mud Crab, Rock Oysters, Goanna or Bahloo.
Plenty of diving too if you want to check out the local reefs or wrecks.
You can take tours into the Kimberley and see some of the oldest land on earth and some of the oldest cave paintings and rock art.
You can hire a 4WD and take yourself off into the remotest parts of the Kimberley (if your game)
Lots of smaller attractions around town too.
Best time to visit is May - October all the roads are open. Wet season Nov - April is the prettiest time but you can't see a lot and were often flooded in.
You can fly in from Perth on Qantas twice a day or from Melbourne on either Virgin or Qantas twice a week or from Adelaide one a week on Virgin.
But the best way to get here is to drive from Darwin and check out the top end and its people as you go. Oops you can fly from Alice Springs 4 times a week.
But with out a doubt the highlight of Broome is its laid back lifestyle and its people. Let me know if you decide to head over here.
