This is an open, moderated forum created in September 2001 for discussions about Pre-WWII vintage Baseball cards. It originated from an older chatboard, Fullcount Baseball Cards. It will be moderated to primarily talk about Pre-WWII baseball cards and related subjects. Hundreds of knowledgeable collectors have contributed to the forum and there have been more than 100,000 posts, all of which can be found through our search.
You must be registered and logged in to participate. You may remain anonymous as long your post is not controversial or confrontational. Email addresses and full names are required in these cases.
Anonymous posts that are controversial or confrontational will probably be deleted. If any board moderator asks you to email them personally you must do so or risk being banned from posting on the board. This is for everyone's safety. Board moderators will only ask for these emails under circumstances they deem necessary for the welfare of the board. Everyone has "read" access to the site and we hope all enjoy it. We welcome new members all of the time as long as they come with the forum purpose in mind.
Personal information about people including but not limited to: Phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, etc, unless given permission ...Personal emails should not be posted on the board. Bickering between participants on the board is expected. As long as it doesn't get too bad it will be let go. Too much fighting is not good and will be censored. Personal attacks will not be allowed. Name calling will not be allowed (unless it's real funny :)) (Just kidding.) Those exchanges can be taken off line and will be asked to do so. Politics and religion are also not permitted on the board and posts concerning this subject matter will be deleted. Any cards other than baseball will not be permitted by folks that are not regular contributors and will be considered off topic. Any new cards will be considered off topic however some 40's and 50's baseball card topics could be permitted and may not be deemed off topic. Any 60's and later baseball cards will be considered off topic. Memorabilia, autographs, game used anything, and other sports things will be considered off topic and any cards that aren't baseball will be considered off topic.
We also ask that members do not "hijack" the threads of other members as this does a disservice to those interested in that particular subject matter and is especially discourteous to the original author of that thread.
Also, to be absolutely clear, this is not a complaint board about grading, graders or grudges. If your first post on the forum is negative, it will likely be deleted. Trolls are not tolerated and they will be banned.
Posts offering to buy, sell, or trade items should be made in the appropriate Buy/Sell/Trade index. This includes posts for items appearing in on-line auctions like eBay, Mastro, Lipset, etc. B/S/T posts in the VBC Forum will be deleted. In the B/S/T area there should be no interference in the posts by 3rd parties...this includes, but is not limited to, talking about what someone paid for something. Only persons involved in the transaction should be posting but benign comments can be ok. If you don't know the difference then don't post. Also, if any fraudulent activity is known about it can be posted in the BST threads, pertaining to that item, by 3rd parties. This is for the protection of the board. Caveat Emptor still is in effect.
The moderator of this board exercises his tyrannical powers very infrequently because of the respect that contributors usually show one another. You may disagree with another poster's opinions, but please keep the insults to a minimum.
You register and login with Network54, not specifically with the VBC forum. Register here.
Please note that the "login id" is not your name. It must be an ID that is unique amongst the 1000's of Network54 users, and it must only contain alphanumeric characters, no spaces.
If you receive an error message that says that your login ID "must contain only alphanumeric characters" then the odds are that you are trying to use a login ID with a space in it.
Login here, or from the login link on the main forum page, or in the posting form.
Your profile contains information that manages how you appear on the forum. You can edit your profile here.
Under the "Profile" link here you can set your name, which is what will show up on the forum.
Under the "Personal Photo" link here you can set up a personal photo that will appear in the top-right corner of your posts. Please note that the uploaded photo must be no greater than 70x70 pixels.
Also, it's a good idea to modify your options here for auto-logoff to be "quarterly". This means you won't have to be constantly logging on.
The best option for posting images is to have them hosted either through your ISP or through one of the many free services on the web like
You can also host your images with Network54. The screenshots below walk you through this process. There are 2 important limitations to be aware of before you begin:
If you don't already have your image on the Internet (in other words, it's on your hard drive only), Network54 allows registered users to upload temporary images and then insert them into posts. These images are deleted after 1 week.
Press the "insert object" button on the post form to get the dialogue below. Make sure any popup blocking software is disabled for this site or you may not see the button!
Click "Temporary files" to list all files you have. To upload new ones, click the "Upload" link. Browse to the file you want to upload, then click the "Upload" button. Once the file is uploaded you can insert it by clicking on it in the left hand pane, and it will swap over to the right pane, then click "insert image".
This puts the URL of the temporary image into your posting dialogue, and you treat it as you would any other URL, per the instructions above.
To insert a picture, just insert the URL of the image in the posting box. There is no need to use any HTML tags.
If you want to post more than one image, just include more than one URL. To center images, put HTML center tags around the URLs:
