Statement of Faith And Rules The Bible: We believe the bible to be the infallible incorruptible inspired work and writings of God through the Holy Spirit to the heart of man. It is therefore good for teaching, reproof and correction, as well as the final authority in our lives. (2 Tim. 3:16) The Trinity: We believe that God exists eternally in three persons; God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. Hence, He is perfect Deity and true humanity united in one person forever. He lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of men by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone. He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died. He ascended bodily into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession for His own. Salvation: We believe that salvation comes through believing with your heart in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and confessing Him. Therefore it is pertinent that regeneration of Holy Spirit guides you and empowers you daily in order to continue on in faith of what you have confessed. Baptism: We believe that baptism by water is an outward sign of an inward decision to repent and accept the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ . This should be an imminent response to His love. (Mark 1:4) Heaven or Hell At physical death the believer enters immediately into eternal, conscious fellowship with the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting glory and blessing. At physical death the unbeliever enters immediately into eternal, conscious separation from the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting judgment and condemnation In Hell. Second Coming: We believe in the personal, visible, second coming of Jesus Christ to the earth. He will return with His saints and set up a kingdom of which there will be no end. Vision Statement Introduction: You can’t move people to action unless you first move them with emotion. The heart comes before the head. There’s an old saying: To lead yourself, use your head; to lead others, use your heart. Now to clarify what we are not. No we are not seeker sensitive and avoiding the whole council of God. Things will be taught that may not tickle the ears of some but they will be taught with love and respect. No we are not watering down, and no we are not about love without truth. What we are about is making a connection with those outside the faith. Certainly different methods work for different people, but we believe being real, showing love and gentleness is most productive , and produces not just converts, but disciples, which is what Christ calls us to do (Matthew 28:19). When it comes to the Truth of Scriptures, people today want to see it lived out and validated in another before they accept it as "valid truth."Christians often come across as close minded and wanting to "cram" their beliefs down the throats of others. Our challenge is that God's Truth is absolute, but that does not mean they will accept it as truth just because we say so. Therefore we need to lead people to discover the truth for themselves instead of telling them what to believe. I'm right your wrong deal with it :) Let's work together is sharing the Gospel without cramming but with gentleness and respect There has been a lot of correction but little connection, little dialogue and very little respect at times. People just don't LIKE being told what to believe. That is the importance of dialogue. All they see is US on our "soap box" stating ours is the only way to heaven. Again, our challenge is that there is ONLY ONE WAY to heaven, but in this world many people will outright reject the idea there is a singular path to God. So what do we do? Do we keep cramming? Paul gives us clear guidance: 1 These. 2:8 We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us. And those Apostle John, 1 John 3:18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. Our challenge then becomes not to just preach but to understand. They want to be understood and heard. I do believe there is a balance to be had on this issue. What do I mean? Be up front, yet loving and respectful and kind. Forum Rules : All are welcome to post here but the Forum owner adheres to the following: A few things I would like the Christians who are going to participate at Open Air. The word 'preach' does not just mean one-way verbal communication. It isn't my way or the highway. If the receivers have not understood the message, real communication has probably not occurred. Arguing till you are blue serves no purpose. Again, I have been very involved in Prison Ministry and I can say this. You cannot teach people unless you have their attention so get their attention by using illustrations, questions and even humor. Most people don't like to be preached at, but most people like to be talked to. If you look through the NT there are different ways to communicate effectively in various situations. I'm quite aware of the snakes and vipers. I'm not asking you to tailor the Gospel but I am asking you to tailor your speech towards others. May the Grace and Peace of Christ be with you all. Prayerfully consider your further participation and goal to meeting our vision for Open Air. I do pray each of you will continue and work towards what our goal truly is. That is sharing the Gospel with the lost. The edit feature is for the sole purpose of adding additional information or spelling. If you are caught deleting the content of your post.
