IMHO, the crosman 2200 has the greatest power potential of all
currently offered crosman pump rifles but is deficient in one crucial
area. In pursuit of looks, crosman failed to come up with a breach
that could effectively transfer gas to do work on our pellet. the bolt
has no o-ring, the barrel fits loosely in the breach block and the
receiver does not hold the breach block securely to the transfer port
seal. If crosman coupled this powerplant to the 2260 action they would
have a winner, a modern 1400 perhaps?

In the next sections I'll address some of the modifications I did to my
own 2200 to achieve better sealing, the first three mods can be accomplished
with minimal tooling, the fourth requires patience, some machining skills and
must be done before the first three modifications (if you choose to do it).
This may not make your gun into a Wolgast but it'll sure improve on the
factory original.
Transfer Port
This ones simple. Most of us are familiar with the 2240 type transfer port,
the ring and the little square cut seal. If by chance you've made a stop at
your Crosman repair depot you may have seen various lengths of that square
cut seal, I purchased a small assortment for tinkering. The longest is for
the 1400, the two intermediate lengths are used in various generations of
760's and the shortest is used in the 22xx, 13xx, etc.

The one you're looking for is the next length up from the current 2240.
It'll take a little extra wiggling to get the receiver halves to close
but it's worth the trouble.
Valve retention
Follow the instructions in Bio's "Valve retention upgrade" to secure you're
valve with one screw, as you'll see, the factory uses nothing but the stamped
valve stop.

Due to vacuum created on the intake stroke, the valve gets pulled back and
forth creating wear at the valve stop as well as additional stress at transfer
port.
Sealing the barrel to the breach block

Apply 1 to 1 and a 1/2 drops of medium strength thread locker around the barrels
transfer port, just enough to circle the port. Keep the port up right and slide
the breach block into place, use a drill bit to align the ports, tighten the
barrel set screw and let sit over night. This basically creates a gasket between
the breach block and barrel.
