Did you know?

 Citric acid is bad for male rats because it causes kidney cancer!

 Too much protein is bad for rats.

 Rats didn't spread the Bubonic Plague, they carried the fleas that spread the Bubonic Plague.

 Our domestic rats are distant relatives of the Brown Rat or Norway Rat, scientific name Rattus Norvegicus, while the rats in New York City subways are the Black Rat or Roof Rat, scientific name Rattus Rattus.

 If rats didn't wear down their incisors they would grow up to 9 inches a year.

 Rats can jump vertically as high as 4 feet and horizontally as far as 6 feet!

 The oldest rat lived to seven years!

 Rats can't burp so don't feed them carbonated drinks!

 Chocolate is toxic to rats if given in large quantites--it can cause heart failure or neurological poisoning!  However, you can give rats chocolate if the are in respiratory distress--it can be a good brochodilator.

 Liquorice causes neurological poisoning.

 Raw beans, raw sweet potatos, raw red cabbage, raw brussel sprouts, raw artichokes, green bananas, onions, and rhubarb are toxic to ratties!


 Bananas, garlic, prunes/plums, eggplants, raspberries, tea, and yellow mustard have antibiotic properties!

 Almonds, dried/processed corn, beets, cucumbers, radishes, spinach, collards, and turnup greens are bad for rats.
