This site describes the New Genre of Musik I listen to since 1995 and it's called, Happy Techno. It's a kind of musik from the Underground that's been very popular all over the world. It's other names are HappyHardcore , 4Beat, OldSkool Breakbeat, and Hardcore Techno but with a 'happy' side.

In the history of Hardcore Techno musik, It has developed @1994-95 when the OldSkool Hardcore split into two sides. Before this, anything with a Jungle/Hardcore beat was known only as Hardcore! The story goes that some of the Oldskool Hardcore Djs' wanted to be on the DarkSide while the others wanted to create a more 'happy' side of Jungle-Techno. However, there was also a group who didn't want to conform to either sides and so remained that way. This group had its' own ideas about how the musik should progress. From then on, the Hardcore scene has divided into 2 main branches - a Happy side and a Darkside.

The 'Happy side' developed into such genres as Happy Hardcore, 4Beat, Trancecore, HappyGabber, Hardcore Techno with a 'happy' flavour. The dark side consisted of such terms/genres as Old Skool, Dark Drum N Bass , Nu-Dark Jungle , Dark Techstep, Mystic-Step, HardStep, Darkcore, Dark Ambient, Dark Techno, Sci-Fi Jungle, HardcoreJungle, Breakbeats, etc . The other 'group' that did not conform basically intertwined both aspects of the Genre and formed Ambient Jungle, Happy Jungle, Hardcore Techno but with Happy Lyrics/Tunes/Vocals , Gabbercore, Hardcore Gabber, Gabber, Trance/HardTrance,

Today, most 'Techno' musik is classified under the "Dance" terminology and has been classed under 7 main categories:
- House
- Trance
- Techno
- Hardcore
- Drum N Bass/Jungle/Breakbeat
- Electronica/Beats
- Dub

Let me give you a brief overview :
1. House started off from Disco and Hi NRG roots and coul be defined as the 'true beginnings of Techno musik. It developed into Hard House, Euro House, Progressive House, Global House, Epic House, Deep House, Chill-Out House, Tribal House, etc...
2. Trance was basically an offshoot off House Musik - it had long synth-lines and rhythmic drops to create a mesmerising atmosphere. It too emerged as HardTrance, Progressive Trance, Deep Trance, Acid Trance, Minimal Trance, Euro-Trance, Psychedelic Trance, NRG-Trance, Nu Nrg Trance , German NRG Trance, etc..
3. Techno - basically anything with the sound of a 'train-moving-on-the-tracks' is the best analogy to describe 'Pure Techno'. This style was played mostly by European countries although it's roots date back to Detroit and Chicago House musik. Techno didn't give you a Trancey feeling as it was just pure 'doof' musik thumping onto the speakers. It offshooted into various of its own sub-genres namely HardTechno, Dark Techno, Ambient Techno, Mutant Techno, Deep Techno, Acid Techno, Detroit Techno, Electro-Techno, Breakbeat Techno, Techno-Funk, Euro-Techno,
4. Hardcore - Hardcore Techno could be termed an offshoot from Techno. However, this type of musik was Techno sped up to the max and given a deep wall-banging sound. It divided into Digital Hardcore, Cyber Hardcore, Hardcore Techno, Happy Hardcore, Gabber, Speedcore, Terrorcore, Noizecore, Extremecore,
5. Drum N Bass/Jungle/Breakbeat - This style was from the split-off between Techno and Breakbeat musik. Some producers began using the original Breakbeat style and Sped it up to produce loops of sped-up Drum Beats. The Harder and Faster the drum beats got, the more Jungle-ish it became. Its' offshoots were , Dark Drum N Bass, Ragga Jungle, Nu-Dark Jungle, Hardcore Jungle, Dark Techstep, Techstep, Hardstep, Atomic Breaks, Breakbeat, Electro-Breaks, MysticStep, Darkstep, Ambient Jungle, Sci-Fi Jungle.
6. Electronica/Beats- This was anything that was usually slower and more downtempo than Techno/House/Jungle,. It was more of Experimental than anything. It's offshoots include, Ambient Electronica, Chill-Out, Chill-Out Electronica, Dark Electronica, Twilight Electronica, Abstract Electronica, Electro, Electro-Funk , Loungecore
7. Dub- basically a general term to describe the Dub/Reggae roots of Techno musik. Reggae sounds were added and those with just that Raggae beat were termed Dub. Includes : Dark Dub, Electro-Dub, Techno-Dub, Ambient Dub, etc..

Screen Shot: Rob's Project RAVE
Rave is a full-function arcade game, using the keys seen at the left (which you can redefine). BOB is programmed entirely in HTML/JavaScript and has 36 different screens and 3 different enemies, 2 of which move. The image at the left shows keys and doors, which are dynamic---once you get them, they're gone (until the next game!). Try BOB out, or read more about creating Bob in the About and What's New section.
More information about the UnderGround

Only 32 images are used to create BOB (six images are for BOB himself). The data that draws BOB has over 3:1 compression (but is on the same page). BOB works on all computer platforms using a proper browser (it even works on a Unix workstation -- there are special automatic adjustments for speed on HP workstations). BOB does not rely on any Applets or CGI Script pushing. The page of BOB is about 25kb, and the images for BOB are less than 7kb (most average pages have over 30kb).
